Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission

I started searching the Internet to find additional educational resources to add to the Salmon Page and found the web site for the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission (PSMFC) at http://www.psmfc.org. I knew it was a Portland, OR based organization but little else. They have a lot of good information about their projects and have published information from their research in the form of presentations and article. I have added links to portions of their web site in both the Education and Conservation sections of the Salmon Page. Here is a condensed version of the PSMFC overview as published at http://www.psmfc.org.

The Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission (PSMFC) helps resource agencies and the fishing industry sustainably manage our valuable Pacific Ocean resources in a five-state region. PSMFC’s primary goal is to promote and support policies and actions to conserve, develop, and manage our fishery resources in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska. We accomplish this through coordinating research activities, monitoring fishing activities, and facilitating a wide variety of projects. We work to collect data and maintain databases on salmon, steelhead, and other marine fish for fishery managers and the fishing industry.

One project of the PSMFC is called StreamNet and they have a public education section of that web site as well.
